NOTICE TO PLAYERS

Mill River, June 9th – 10th, 2025 – Player Information
Play is governed by the Rules of Golf, and the following Supplementary Local Rules. Unless otherwise stated penalty for breach of Supplementary Local Rule is two strokes.
- Play shall be from the following Tee Markers … Red Mill River Markers for Female Amateurs and PGA Professionals, Blue Mill River Markers for Male PGA Professionals. Your GGID will be on your scorecard
- Team Scoring: Best two net stableford scores per hole. PGA Professionals score can be used. Record only gross scores on Golf Genius.
- Embedded ball: Anywhere in the General area a ball which is embedded in its own pitch mark in the ground, except in loose sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned, and dropped within one club length of the spot not nearer the hole, Rule 16.3.
- Both sides of the fairways are to be treated as penalty areas. Should you lose your ball, place in the fairway where you believe it would be for length adding a penalty of one shot. This is to keep play moving and is not truly a rule of golf. Remember … fun! This applies to OB as well. AMATURES ONLY!
- Penalty Areas: Defined by red or yellow paint and or stakes on holes #2, #4, #5, #7, #13, #14 & #18.
- Immovable Obstructions: All roadways and cart paths and their extensions whether artificially surfaced or not are considered immovable obstructions, relief provided under Rule 16.1 (one club length from nearest point of complete relief not nearer the hole).
- Abnormal Ground Conditions: Defined by solid white lines, signs or roped off areas. On holes #18 (left of the pond). Relief MAY be taken. The ball is to be dropped, without penalty, within one club length of the nearest point of complete relief not in a penalty area and not nearer the hole. Includes material for removal.
- French drains are Ground Under repair and free relief may be taken. Rule 16.1.
- No Play Zones: All flowerbeds or prepared beds containing shrubs; and hedges are considered No Play Zones (Rule 2.4) and relief must be taken. If a player’s ball lies in a No Play Zone, or if it interferes with the player’s stance or the area of his/her intended swing, the player MUST take relief under Rule 2.4 (one club length from nearest point of relief not nearer the hole).
- All staked and/or tagged trees are considered no play areas from which play is prohibited. If a player’s ball lies in the area, or if it
interferes with the player’s stance or the area of his/her intended swing, the player MUST take free relief. Note: bark mulch around and under trees is NOT of itself ground under repair and “free relief” is NOT given. The bark mulch is a loose impediment.
- Doubt as to procedure: Should a situation arise where a player is doubtful as how to proceed (and a Rules Official is not available) it is suggested that the player invoke Rule 20-1c and put a second ball into play. Announce your intention to your competitor, including a statement as to which ball is to be scored if rules permit, complete the hole with both balls and record scores for both balls. Prior to turning in your scorecard, present the facts to the Committee for a ruling. Failure to report the facts will result in disqualification regardless of the score on the hole.
- SUSPENSION of PLAY:
FOR A DANGEROUS SITUATION: One long blast of horn or siren. Players shall discontinue play immediately.
FOR OTHER REASONS: 3 consecutive blasts of horn or siren. Players in progress of playing a hole may complete the play of that hole as long as it is done without delay. Play shall cease upon completion of that hole.
RESUMPTION OF PLAY: Two short blasts of horn or siren repeated.
- To standardize Pace of Play, you must return your scorecard to the official scoring area. It is expected that this is done within 4 hours and 30 minutes of your designated starting time.
- In the event of a first-place tie, the winner will be based on the best 18-hole score second day, best back 9, best last 6, best last 3, 18,17,16….
For professionals, the PGA of Canada Atlantic Tournament Program Rules and Regulations are in effect.
